What's actually inside it?

Glass micro-beads, held in individually quilted pockets, under a sherpa fleece outer. The pockets are the important part — they stop the beads migrating to one end, which is what makes cheap weighted blankets develop cold, empty patches after a few months.

Why glass beads rather than plastic pellets?

Glass beads are finer, denser, and quieter. They give a smoother distribution of weight and don't rustle when you move. Plastic pellets are cheaper and bulkier, and you can hear them.

How heavy should mine be?

Roughly 7–10% of your body weight. Our weight guide has a proper table. If you're between two, take the lighter.

Will I overheat?

Possibly, and we'd rather say so. Sherpa fleece is a warm construction — excellent in a cold room, a lot in a warm one. If you're a hot sleeper, use it on the sofa and in winter rather than as year-round bedding.

Can I wash it?

Yes, but read this first. Spot clean small marks. For a full wash, use a large-capacity machine — 9 kg dry becomes considerably heavier wet, and a standard domestic drum can be damaged by the load. Cold, gentle cycle, tumble dry low, never bleach.

Does it come with a removable cover?

No. This is a single-piece blanket, so washing means washing the whole thing. If you want to protect it, a large duvet cover works well and is far easier to launder.

Is it suitable for children?

Not this one. Weighted blankets aren't suitable for babies or toddlers at all, and a 9 kg blanket is far too heavy for a child. Anyone using one should be able to lift it off themselves easily and unassisted.

Are there reasons not to use one?

If you have a respiratory, circulatory, or sleep-related medical condition, check with your doctor before using a weighted blanket. We sell comfort, not treatment, and we're not going to pretend otherwise.

Will it help me sleep?

Plenty of people find the deep, even pressure genuinely calming, and that's why we sell it. But we're not going to make medical claims about anxiety or insomnia — the honest answer is that it's a very comfortable blanket, and for many people that's enough to change how an evening feels.
